SEO and GEO for B2B SaaS

SEO and AI search for B2B SaaS: rank in Google, get cited in the answer.

Buyers research software in two places now: the Google results page, and the answer ChatGPT, Perplexity or an AI Overview writes for them. We build the site and the page library that show up in both, with use case, industry, integration, alternative and comparison pages, each researched, written and structured to be found and quoted.

The [incumbent] alternative built for general contractors

Two searches, one buyer

The same buyer asks Google and then asks ChatGPT.

A results page and an AI answer reward overlapping things, but not the same things. A SaaS site built for one and not the other is missing from part of the research every buyer does.

Google results
Rank the page

Google ranks pages against a query. It rewards a page that answers one search completely, loads fast, is linked from the rest of the site and from elsewhere, and is clear about what it is.

  • One page per real query
  • Internal links and a clean crawl
  • Schema that says what the page is
AI answers
Be cited in the answer

ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews write an answer and cite a few sources. They favour statements they can lift cleanly, facts that match across the web, and brands that other sites already mention.

  • Direct answers under clear headings
  • The same facts on every profile
  • Mentions on sites the engines trust
The page library

Six page types buyers actually search for.

Programmatic pages, done properly: a template approved once, then a page for every use case, industry, integration and comparison with real demand behind it, each built from its own data.

  • Use case pages

    [job to be done] software

One page for each job your product does, written for the person who does that job and the words they search with.

Built from Your feature map and sales calls

  • Industry pages

    [category] for [industry]

The same product described in each industry's vocabulary, with that industry's workflows, rules and objections.

Built from Customer segments and interviews

  • Integration pages

    [your product] + [tool]

What syncs, in which direction, how setup works and who it suits, for every integration buyers ask about.

Built from Integration docs and support tickets

  • Alternative pages

    [incumbent] alternative

An honest page for buyers leaving a competitor or a spreadsheet: who should switch, who should not, and what moving takes.

Built from Lost deals and switching stories

  • Comparison pages

    [option A] vs [option B]

Side-by-side tables with sources and dates, in a format an AI answer can quote directly.

Built from Competitor research, dated and sourced

  • Question pages

    how to [task] in [industry]

The questions buyers type into ChatGPT before they know your category exists, each answered directly and well.

Built from Search data and AI prompt research

The method

Research, one gold page, then the library.

The same five stages behind every search build we run. The data decides which pages exist, and the page you approve decides how good every sibling has to be.

  1. /01

    Research

Search demand and AI prompts for your category, measured and saved, so the data decides which pages exist.

  2. /02

    The gold page

One page of each type built to your standard, section by section, with your approval at each step.

  3. /03

    The library

Sibling pages built against that standard, released in phases so the first pages index while the rest are written.

  4. /04

    Links and index

Internal linking, sitemaps and schema, with indexing confirmed page by page in Search Console.

  5. /05

    Measure

Search Console for clicks, impressions and position; the Citation Checker for how often AI answers cite you.

AI citation work

Written to be quoted by the engines buyers ask.

AI engines cite pages they can read cleanly and trust. Most of that is on the page itself; some of it is how consistently the rest of the web describes you.

Four AI answer engines side by side: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews, and Bing and Copilot.
  • 01

    Answer first

Each question heading is followed by a direct answer in its first sentences, then the detail.

  • 02

    Tables with sources

Comparisons and specs in real tables, dated and sourced, that an engine can lift whole.

  • 03

    Structured data

Organization, SoftwareApplication, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList schema, matched to what the page says.

  • 04

    One set of facts

Your name, category, pricing model and integrations stated the same way on your site, review sites, LinkedIn and directories.

  • 05

    Third-party presence

Listings, reviews and roundups on the sites AI engines already draw from for your category.

  • 06

    Citation tracking

Citation share across ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, measured before the build and every quarter after.

See where you stand before anything is built. The free Citation Checker asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini 10 buying questions about your category and scores how often your site is cited.

The method, measured

A service-business build that shows the method.

We have not published a SaaS search build yet. This is the one we cite: 400 pages over 12 months for a residential cleaning company in Vancouver, name withheld by agreement, measured in their own Search Console.

  • +67%
clicks per quarter, 1,581 to 2,647
  • 11.2
    average position, from 25.8
  • +77%
    impressions per quarter, to 428k
  • 349
    queries newly ranking
  • 91.5%
    non-branded share, from 10.4%
  • $0

What carries over to SaaS

The research discipline, the approved gold page, phased releases, internal linking and the measurement.

What changes

The page types (services and cities become use cases, industries and integrations) and the volumes: SaaS searches are usually smaller and each one is worth more.

Search Console, Feb to Apr 2025 vs Mar to May 2026. Branded split from SEMrush, Aug 2024 vs Apr 2026.

Pages carry the product demo where it helps, and the page plan comes straight from the GTM strategy, so every page argues the same positioning as the rest of the launch. Healthcare SaaS pages also go through your compliance reviewer.

Plans

A setup quarter, then a monthly run.

Each plan opens with a one-time setup quarter that builds the system, then a monthly retainer that keeps it running. Ad spend and print are billed at cost, separate from the fee.

Questions we get

Questions about SEO and AI search.

01

What is GEO, and how is it different from SEO?

Generative engine optimization is the work of getting your pages cited when AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews answer a question. SEO earns a place on a results page; GEO earns a mention inside the answer. They overlap heavily, since both reward specific, well-structured pages, and we do both on every page we build.
02

What are programmatic SEO pages for SaaS?

Pages built from a shared template and a real dataset, one for each use case, industry, integration or comparison your buyers search for. Done properly, each page carries its own research and substance rather than a name swapped into the same paragraph. One page of each type is approved to your standard before any siblings are built.
03

Can programmatic pages hurt a site?

Thin pages that repeat the same text with one word changed can, and Google's spam policies target content scaled up mainly to game rankings. The protection is substance: every page we build is backed by its own data, written for its own query, and only built where measured demand exists. Indexing is checked page by page from the first phase.
04

Do you have SaaS SEO results?

Not published yet. The measured results we cite come from a 400-page build for a residential cleaning company: quarterly clicks from 1,581 to 2,647 and average position from 25.8 to 11.2, with no ad spend. It shows the method, not a SaaS outcome, and we say so wherever we show it.
05

How do you track AI citations?

With the Citation Checker, our free tool, which asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini buying questions about your category and records how often your site is cited. We run it before the build to set a baseline and every quarter after, next to Search Console.
06

How long before the pages rank?

Impressions are usually the first signal, as pages are indexed, and ranking movement follows as they mature. We do not promise a position or a date. We report what Search Console and the Citation Checker show every month, and adjust the library from there.
